| 2007 -2008 Winner 38th Annual Business Day Conference
Michael Tims is the Chairman of Peters & Co. Limited, an investment firm specializing in investments in the Canadian oil and gas, oilfield services and energy infrastructure industries. The firm is very active in securities brokerage, investment research, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and financial advisory services in relation to the Canadian energy industry. Mike holds a B. Comm. degree (with distinction) from the University of Calgary and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard University. He is a Chartered Business Valuator. Mike has previously served: as the Chairman of the Canadian Investor Protection Fund, the insurance fund for the Canadian investment industry; as Chairman of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada; and as a member of the Wise Persons’ Committee (which studied securities regulation in Canada).
Mike is presently: the Vice-Chair and a director of the United Way of Calgary and Area; a member of the Management Advisory Council at the Haskayne School of Business of the University of Calgary; a Trustee of the University of Calgary Foundation; a member of the national Business Advisory Committee for the “French for the Future / Le français pour l’avenir” program; Co-Chair of the capital campaign and a Past Chairman of the board of West Island College in Calgary; and a past director of “Canada’s Top 40 Under 40” program. He was the first recipient of the Management Alumni Excellence (“MAX”) Award from the University of Calgary. Mike has also had extensive involvement with a number of other community, educational and charitable organizations.

Harley N. Hotchkiss manages his own oil, gas, real estate and agricultural enterprises. He was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario and after World War II service in the Canadian Merchant Marine, graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. Mr. Hotchkiss has spent his entire working career in Calgary. He is a member of several Canadian and American professional societies relating to petroleum and mineral exploration and has served on the number of corporate boards. He is past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research and past Chairman of the Foothills Hospital Board. He is Director of the Hockey Hall of Fame and serves as NHL Governor for the Calgary Flames. He was elected Chairman of the NHL Board of Governors in 1995 and re-elected in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2005. Mr. Hotchkiss is an Officer of the Order of Canada and holds an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Calgary and an Honorary Doctor of Science from Michigan State University. He was awarded the Alberta Order of Excellence in 1998. Mr. Hotchkiss was inducted into the Canadian Petroleum Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Calgary Business Hall of Fame in 2005.
