| CONFERENCE SPEAKER BIOS Morning Keynote: Mr. Chip Wilson In 1998, Chip Wilson founded lululemon athletica in Vancouver, Canada. He also carries the roles of Chairman and Chief Product Designer. Chip graduated from the University of Calgary in 1980 with an economics degree. He has been named one of the top 40 alumni in 2006. Keynote Topic: Innovating Out of Commodity Pricing and its Effects on MarketingMorning Panel: “Diamond in the Rough” Our “Diamond in the Rough” panelists are individuals who have identified a specific product or market niche and were able to capitalize upon it successfully at a time when others may have thought it was unimportant or even foolish. This panel will follow Chip Wilson’s morning keynote, which itself demonstrates finding a “diamond in the rough”. The panel will include speakers such as Haskayne alumni Chris Jones who saw that a glass cutter’s gloves provided the grip necessary for playing football during Canada’s wet winters. Lunch Keynote: Mr. Lance Carlson Lance Carlson has been President + CEO of the Alberta College of Art + Design (ACAD) since August 2004. He holds graduate degrees in both cultural studies/sociology and design. His own work as an is held in select collections throughout North America. Keynote Topic: Designing Innovation from Within the Organization
Afternoon Panel: “Beyond Oil & Gas” While we acknowledge that we are in Calgary and that our economy is dependant upon the oil & gas industry, our “Beyond Oil & Gas” panel is meant to get attendees thinking about how our city can diversify itself so that it is less dependant on the energy industry and more established in terms of future sustainability. Panelists include Bruce Graham of Calgary Economic Development and Dr. Bob Schulz from the Haskayne School of Business, addressing the future of Calgary’s economy.
Breakout A: Ms. Noranne Dickin As a partner at Conroy Ross, Ms. Dickin will address the breakout session topic of “Today’s Market Reality”. This topic will look at the current job market in Calgary, what students should keep in mind when interviewing with various different companies, as well as provide tips to help students perfect skills and aptitudes. Breakout B: Mr. Andrew Hewitt As an accomplished author, speaker, and investor, Mr. Hewitt will address the breakout session topic of “Your First Steps to Financial Freedom”. This topic will discuss areas such as passive income and how beliefs can change your financial situation.
Closing Keynote: Mr. David Byler David Byler is the Executive VP, Natural Gas & Renewable Energy for Suncor Energy, Inc. David graduated from the Haskayne School of Business in 1978. He is also the 2006 MAX Award Recipient from the Haskayne School of Business. The award recognizes personal achievement and extraordinary service to the business school and to the community.
