The Academic Division of General Surgery has had a Surgical Residency Program that was started in 1970. Since that time it has evolved and developed. Presently it is a five-year program, taking four PGY1 candidates per year. In the past, our residents have gone onto diverse surgical careers, from furthering their training with fellowship devours allowing them to be competitive in the academic surgical world, clinical fellowships in various areas of interest and expertise, to general surgical practitioners in communities throughout Canada.
