Research Program
The
innovative research conducted in the Collaboratory environment of the
Health Telematics Unit supports collaborative research of local and
national needs, as well as research into international priorities and
standards that impact fundamentally on health and health delivery
globally.
The
research mandate of the Program demands a broad and diverse set of
research skills and, due to the breadth of research protocols and
designs specific to a particular research question or telehealth
application, a multi-disciplinary and cross-sectoral approach.
Exploratory, descriptive, comparative, quasi-experimental and
experimental designs are required, as are quantitative and qualitative
approaches. In addition, curiosity-driven research is needed specific to
new knowledge about the impact of telehealth implementation on health
systems, programs, outcomes, research models, and alternative strategies
associated with using sustainable telehealth cost-effective approaches
to care.
We
conduct our research within one of four research
domains, and typically
have 20 active projects underway that investigate issues from the local
to global level.
