Telelearning Research Suite
The
Telelearning Research Suite is the centre for telelearning research and
evaluation projects. This includes undergraduate training, continuing
professional development, and continuing education initiatives, plus
patient and public education projects. State-of-the-art
telecommunications are permitted through cutting-edge equipment and
high-speed connectivity.
Functionality:
This research suite is currently formatted in boardroom style for
standard research presentations, with overhead microphones and 6 tables,
with microphones and laptop connections, that can be arranged in various
set-ups. The presenter has
a portable touch screen panel connected by an umbilical cord to the
podium. It is able to
initiate H.320, H.323 or MPEG-2 calls.
This panel shows the image that is being sent to the remote
location(s).
A podium is provided
that houses a document camera, local computer and videocassette
recorder. This podium will
have a LCD computer screen and a microphone for formal presentations.
The room has two screens that show the near and far-end images as well
as images from remote controlled cameras.
Examples of research
foci:
CME, Anatomy, Histology, Radiology, Toxicology, and Knowledge Transfer.
